Choose Your Audio Cassette Packaging
The final piece of the jigsaw: choosing the packaging for your audio cassette release. We have several options available and we’re always happy to help if you need some advice. Browse our cassette packaging options below.
To help designers, we have a full suite of packaging templates available for you to use in various file formats. These can be downloaded from our TEMPLATES page, alongside some guidance on creating/submitting your artwork.
Inlays / J-Cards
An inlay card is the most popular packaging for a standard audio cassette case. Widely regarded as an iconic feature of this media, cassette inlays or ‘J’-Cards show cover art and content details, such as a tracklist and producer credits. Additional panels may include lyrics, artwork or other details.
NB: A standard one-panel inlay is made up a cover panel, a spine and a 25mm return visible on the back of the case.
- Our inlays are full-colour print on both sides as a standard
- We can print up to seven additional panels, making eight in total including the cover
We print inlays CMYK digitally on 170GSM gloss paper stock as a standard. We also have silk paper stock available if required, for a matte feel. Longer panel inlays will be printed on a 150GSM gloss/or silk paper stock to help reduce excess bulk in the case once packed.

O-Cards
O-Cards are rectangular sleeves that slide over the cassette, with or without a hard case.
Printed in full colour on card stock, an ‘O’-card offers a creative opportunity to make your cassette release look extra special.
For a bit of added ‘theatre’, we can also print on the inside of the ‘O’-card. This is ideal if you want to have a solid colour or pattern visible on the inside when the cassette is removed.
- O-Card can come with or without thumb-cuts.

OBI Strips
A proper bit of retro cassette styling, OBI strips were popularised by Japanese import records, and the term comes from the word for belt. This thin loop of card offers an extra opportunity for creativity.
Add an Obi strip to give additional information, special edition details or translations.

- Available as a vertical or horizontal strip.

Maltese Cross
A Maltese Cross is an all-card packaging option that can be printed in fullcolour on both sides.It’s an affordable option for low-impact, recyclable cassette packaging that adds unique detail to your release.
The ‘cross’ shape presents new design opportunities for artists and folds up around the cassette to provide full coverage.
- Available for a cassette only or for a cassette in a hard case.
- Single colour foiling and spot gloss are available.

Other Options
- Single cassette tape presentation boxes with foam insert and option for insert cards.
- 8-Track-style presentation boxes.
- We offer both cellophane and shrink wrapping for your cassette release, depending on your packaging.
- Cassette card mailers are available if required. Currently, we only stock mailers suitable for a single cassette in either a single hard case or an O-Card.
